The first 4 images are student work from my most recent holiday gift making workshop. The photographs are carelessly taken. As you can see, reflective surfaces are difficult to photograph. I provide bits and pieces so that everyone can produce a masterpiece in 4 hours. One student made around 20 gifts for her $75, a real bargain. These classes are great for me because I love making things, but hate to sell. Stuff build up. Students find treasures and incorporate into their work. Glass is great for recycling, because if you don't like it, melt it.
The last 3 images are from a materials class we taught for Catherine MacLean. There were 18 students. The project is "enveloping form". We made molds so that each student can fill the form in their own way. We made a sample with a copper etched dragonfly, a dichroic stringer, and green glass powder. Clear glass frit filled the spaces around and in between. The air bubbles form naturally, accentuating the 3 dimensions. It's a great paper weight. I want to make a large array of them for a public art project.
Here I go again mixing up the point of view on how I shoot food. This time I choose a bear claw pastry and hot coco. Shot this with natural light. I am very happy with the color and how these two images came out. The second shot of the bear claw was a variation I tried and is my favorite out of the two images
So many photos to edit! I've done about six different shoots in the last week and am preparing myself to sit and spend quite a bit of time editing them all in the next few days. This is just one photo from one of the shoots so it's pretty much just a sneak peek.
