So I decided to have some fun with my own version of bleach bypass on some film I shot during a session with my friend and his pet tortoise. My take on the age old process is taking color negs and splitting the development part into 3 steps instead of its normal two my first step is developing in black and white film developer for x amount of time to bring up the true black layer of the film then proceeding into the remainder of the time in color developer. Finally giving the film just a taste of bleach so the film is completely with out high lights, but this step is to taste. Oh almost forgot you most rinse the film in between each step. This process can be temperamental so you have to test. Because I have killed many of roles playing with it.

For these images I had the opportunity to work with a food stylist. However, I could not resist using a mannequin hand in the first shot. I had a lot of fun on this shoot got to mix my own style of shooting food with a more traditional look to it.

OK. I really love this place mate and glass, so i decided to shoot this slice of pumpkin pie on it. Not sure if I feel these images was as successful as my last to post, but I do enjoy the light and color in them.

Here I go again mixing up the point of view on how I shoot food. This time I choose a bear claw pastry and hot coco. Shot this with natural light. I am very happy with the color and how these two images came out. The second shot of the bear claw was a variation I tried and is my favorite out of the two images

I gave more traditional look to shooting food, just to see if I could make food look good. I feel that I managed to pull this off. Showed this to a couple of people and they seem to enjoy these images a lot. I think I will try a few more like these and see where it takes me. However I will not put my normal point of view on food a side to long.

Week#8 Robert S Evans III

Towards the beginning of the this term I was talking with Paul Jasmin during the Fashion Photo class he teaches here at Art Center. He pointed out one of the models named Camille that his class had the opportunity to shoot that day and I should go introduce myself and take some pictures. So we walked over to her and discussed with her and the stylist and make up artist make up and what she would wear. next thing I new she went off to make up and I was running over to the prop room to try and put some sort of set together and i also dug into my what bag of tricks that I happened to have with me at the time. The result from this impromptu shoot wasn't that bad and I had a lot of fun working with Camille.

Week #7 Robert S Evans III

I shoot this for a Valentine's Day brief in my food photography class two terms ago. It was a lot of fun for me because I got to finally bring food and people together. The idea was a Night for one. Basically this lady gets stood up by her lover on Valentine's Day after she had planned this night of passion for her and her lover.After a few glass of champagne she decides to not waste the night crying over it, she would partake in the night she had planned out with herself. She ends up discovering a private her-eyes-only sexual fetish with food.

Week #6 Robert S Evans III

I shoot this still life last spring during my first go around in a food photography class at Art Center. The brief was green and we had to use seven different objects with four of them being food. Earlier that week I was randomly given a set of 1:32 ratio of German WWII soldiers. Which I had the strange urge to use for this brief one because they were green and another I thought it would be cool to have then fighting these weird green candy frogs. Then I was off to Whole Foods to partake in one of my newly discovered parts of producing a shoot propping which now for me is at much fun as the actual shoot . I was like a kid in a candy store. I found so much green food it was hard to focus. However I decided that I would build a world out of veggies and have the soldiers epic battle against the alien green frog candies. The shoot was a lot of fun and brought back some childhood memories of dressing in my fathers old military clothes and setting up battles with my friends.

week#5 Robert S. Evans III

This is the last installment for my mannequin hands food project. I was shooting some Cognac this past Monday. I decided to take a dark, moody approach because of it being month of all hollows eve. Not to mention I have been reading Edgar Allen Poe this past month and I was inspired by a couple of his poems/stories. For the first time in this series I was frustrated with my food/beverage. I was having trouble with the liquor being way to dark and not glowing as much as I would have like it to. However as a whole image I am happy in the way it turned out.

Week#2 Robert S. Evans III

These images are part of a series that I took of my friend Sean. I studied Sean over a period of about two months. Trying to create an look and feel that was going in the direction of his music. Currently Sean is the lead guitar in a thrash metal band that is residing in Lancaster, Ca. So we choose 3-4 different abandon sites out in the Antelope Valley. The project was a lot of fun.
